Why I Walk

In support of this year’s Walk for Good Food, we’re asking walkers to fill in WHY you’re walking for Good Food on this printable sign, and take a picture of you holding it and post on social media using #whyIwalk #Walk4GoodFood.

Examples may include, “I’m Walking for Good Food to change systems.” “I’m Walking for Good Food because all people deserve access to healthy food.” Share your WHY behind walking with us this year.

Walk for Good Food at Our City Parks

Wondering where to walk during the Walk 4 Good Food event May 2 – May 12? How about creating a challenge within your team to complete part of your walk at each of our city parks?! There are 74 parks that need to be explored. Will your team be the one to accomplish this challenge? https://www.grandrapidsmi.gov/Government/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation

Walk for Good Food Music Playlist

To keep walkers motivated, we made a Walk for Good Food Playlist on Spotify to keep you going. Click Here to start listening on Spotify!

Walk on the North Quarter Pathway

In the Creston Neighborhood there is a trail named “The North Quarter Pathway” with each loop being around one mile long, with some variation. Check out the map on the North End Wellness Coalition’s website! https://northendwellness.org/maps/. The North End Wellness Coalition is one of the Walk’s funding recipients this year.

Walking Together while Social Distancing

We love it when walk teams get creative! We’ve heard of congregations, organizations, and others who are doing some fun and creative ideas to build community together while still walking apart:

1. Walk with your team members on the same day, take photos and videos and create a collage or montage at the end.

2. One team last year dedicated their walk to the memory of a dear friend who walked for many years.

3. Have a zoom call to all connect and take a photo all together!

4. Post photos and videos on social media using #Walk4GoodFood and see photos of others! Take some with the #whyIwalk sign and share your purpose with others.

Is your team doing something fun and creative? Email alaina@accessofwestmichigan.org to let us know! We’d love to highlight your team.
