Thank you for your support!

We are thrilled to share with you that The Walk for Good Food – In Your Neighborhood raised $121,000 to support the work of Access of West Michigan and seven other organizations working to create a thriving food system. This was 45% over our original of $85,000. We are thankful for the gifts received from over 1,400 donors, and hundreds of walkers who made this possible. Each and every gift made a difference during an uncertain time for all of us.

The additional funding raised will be put to good use during these challenging times. Our Kitchen Table will use funds to support their South East Farmer’s Market, while The SECOM Resource Center shared excitement over how the added funds will support their community garden program. Additional funds were also provided to UCOM, The Kent County Food Policy Council, North End Wellness Coalition, and The Revive and Thrive Project. Each organization that received funding aligns with the belief that Good Food is defined as:

· Healthy (provides nourishment and enables people to thrive)

· Fair (no one along the production line was exploited during its creation)

· Affordable (All people have access to it)

· Green (produced in an environmentally sustainable manner)

Though inequities in our food system were present already, we have seen them amplified as many in our community have been impacted by COVID-19 through loss of income, access to meals, and more. We thank our community for recognizing that we need a Good Food System that functions for everyone, both in times of crisis and for the years ahead.

While we weren’t able to gather downtown for our typical walk- we loved seeing everyone’s photos (see some below!) of their walks in their neighborhoods. Thank you for staying safe with us during the COVID-19 Pandemic and making adjustments!

Thank you 2020 Walk For Good Food Sponsors!
