June 7-14, 2010 was the date for our 10th Annual Food for Families event. We collected over 200,000 pounds of food for area food pantries to help over the high-need summer months. The week consists of various activities, including Supermarket Sweeps and Canstruction! Thanks to our partners WZZM, Spartan Stores, and thousands of Kent County donors for remembering that hunger does not take a summer vacation!

Access took two groups of people to local agencies where they received a tour and overview of the services provided. On Monday, April 26, the group went to Home Repair Services, Mel Trotter, and North End Community Ministry. On Monday, May 3, the group went to the Department of Human Services, ACSET Community Action Agency, and Inter City Christian Federation.

If you brought in a bag of food, you received a $20 gift card to River Town Mall! Many people waited in line, dropped off items, and we collected 7 tons of food!!

Thanks to WCSG, Access had the opportunity to be a part of the Jeremy Camp “Speaking Louder Than Before” concert on October 1, 2009 at Sunshine Community Church. Concert-goers donated food for the 2009 County Wide Food Drive, helping us get one step closer to our goal to collect 90 tons of food. What a spectacular event with great music, fellowship, and ministry!
